Understanding Food Sensitivity Testing

At M Health, we believe the foods you eat every day may be silently driving your most persistent symptoms. Here is what sets our testing apart from standard allergy panels.

Food sensitivity testing measures your immune system's IgG (Immunoglobulin G) antibody response to a wide panel of common foods. Unlike food allergies (which produce immediate, sometimes severe IgE-mediated reactions), food sensitivities produce delayed IgG-mediated reactions that can take 24–72 hours to manifest. This delayed response makes it nearly impossible to identify your triggers through trial and error alone.

Our panel tests 200+ foods across all major food groups, categorizing each as high reactivity, moderate reactivity, mild reactivity, or no reactivity. Every result is physician-reviewed and interpreted alongside your symptom history — not just handed to you as raw data.

Why Choose M Health

More Than a Reactive Foods List

Food sensitivity testing at M Health is a clinical service — not a wellness kit. Every result is reviewed, explained, and acted upon.

Identify Hidden Triggers

Food sensitivity testing identifies the specific IgG reactions driving your chronic symptoms — the ones standard allergy tests don't measure and elimination diets can't reliably pinpoint.

Data-Driven Dietary Guidance

You receive a tiered reactivity report and a structured elimination protocol designed to tell you exactly which foods to remove, in what order to reintroduce them, and what to watch for along the way.

Reduce Chronic Inflammation

Chronic IgG food reactivity drives low-grade systemic inflammation — the same inflammatory cascade linked to joint pain, hormonal disruption, metabolic dysfunction, and skin conditions. Removing your triggers reduces this burden across every system in your body.

Break Weight Plateaus

Food sensitivities drive inflammation that disrupts gut microbiome balance, insulin sensitivity, and cortisol regulation — all of which contribute to weight resistance. Removing reactive foods is often the missing piece in a plan that isn't working.

Cognitive Clarity

The gut-brain axis is real. Dietary inflammation is one of the most direct drivers of brain fog, difficulty concentrating, mood instability, and energy crashes. Many clients report meaningful cognitive improvements within weeks of their elimination phase.

Gut Healing

Food sensitivities are a leading driver of intestinal permeability — the condition that allows undigested food particles and toxins to cross into the bloodstream. Removing reactive foods is one of the most effective ways to begin restoring gut integrity.

Am I a Candidate?

Food sensitivity testing may be right for you if…

If you have persistent symptoms that have not responded to conventional treatment, your diet may be a contributing factor. Here are the most common presentations we see.

01

Chronic digestive issues — bloating, gas, or IBS-like symptoms without a clear cause

If your digestive symptoms are persistent but your gastroenterologist has ruled out structural issues, food sensitivities are among the most common underlying drivers. IgG testing identifies the specific foods triggering your immune response.

02

Skin conditions such as acne, eczema, or psoriasis that don't respond to topical treatment

When the skin is reacting, the gut is often the source. Dietary inflammation is a leading driver of chronic skin conditions — and testing tells you exactly which foods are responsible.

03

Persistent fatigue, brain fog, or mood changes despite adequate sleep and nutrition

Chronic, low-grade inflammation from ongoing food reactivity suppresses energy and cognitive function. Many clients report meaningful improvements within weeks of removing their high-reactivity foods.

04

Weight loss plateau despite a clean diet and consistent exercise

Food sensitivities drive inflammation that disrupts insulin sensitivity, cortisol regulation, and gut microbiome balance — all of which contribute to weight resistance. Removing reactive foods is often the missing piece.

05

Chronic joint pain or inflammation without a clear injury or diagnosis

Systemic inflammation from food reactivity often manifests as joint pain, stiffness, or swelling. If your joint issues don't trace back to a specific injury, diet may be a significant contributing factor.

06

Anyone who wants to optimize their diet based on personal immune data, not generic advice

Food sensitivity testing replaces guesswork with data. If you are committed to optimizing how you eat and how you feel, knowing your specific immune reactivity profile gives you a clear, personalized starting point.

Not sure if food sensitivity testing is the right starting point? Our team can help you determine which panel best fits your situation.

Your Experience

What to Expect

From your blood draw to your long-term dietary strategy, the process is designed to be clear, structured, and actionable.

Duration: 5–10 min

Visit our office or a partner lab location for a standard blood draw — typically 5 to 10 minutes. A phlebotomist collects the required tubes, which are then sent to our clinical lab partner for IgG antibody analysis. No special preparation is needed. You can eat and drink normally before your appointment.

Transparent Pricing

Fixed Pricing. No Surprise Fees.

Every panel includes the blood draw, physician review, a written findings summary, and your results appointment with an elimination protocol. No hidden fees.

What is the difference between a food sensitivity and a food allergy?

Food allergies are IgE-mediated immune responses — they are immediate, often severe, and are what conventional allergy testing measures. Symptoms like hives, throat swelling, and anaphylaxis are IgE reactions. Food sensitivities are IgG-mediated responses — they are delayed by hours to days, low-grade, and cumulative. They do not cause anaphylaxis, but they create a chronic inflammatory burden that contributes to bloating, fatigue, brain fog, skin issues, and weight resistance. Most people with food sensitivities test completely normal on standard IgE allergy panels.

Is IgG food sensitivity testing scientifically valid?

IgG testing is an active area of clinical interest and is used by functional and integrative medicine physicians worldwide. The test measures your body's IgG antibody response to specific food proteins — a measurable, reproducible immune marker. What remains nuanced is interpretation: elevated IgG to a food does not always mean clinical sensitivity, which is why physician interpretation and a structured elimination-reintroduction protocol are essential. M Health uses IgG data as a clinical tool, not a stand-alone diagnosis — your physician uses it alongside your symptoms and health history to build a targeted elimination protocol.

Does the elimination protocol mean I can never eat those foods again?

No. The goal of the protocol is not permanent restriction — it is confirmation of your true triggers. The elimination phase (typically 4 to 8 weeks) removes your reactive foods to allow your immune system to calm and your symptoms to resolve. The reintroduction phase then adds foods back one at a time in a structured sequence to identify which ones genuinely cause symptoms in your body. Many clients find they can reintroduce several foods from their reactive list without symptoms after the elimination phase. Some high-reactivity foods benefit from longer removal or reduced frequency — but the aim is a sustainable, evidence-based dietary strategy, not an elimination diet you follow forever.

Can children be tested?

Yes. Food sensitivity testing is appropriate for children experiencing chronic digestive issues, skin conditions, behavioral patterns related to diet, or frequent illness.
