The Science

How It Works

NAD+ (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide) is a coenzyme present in every living cell. It's essential for converting food into energy, repairing damaged DNA, activating sirtuins (longevity proteins), and maintaining healthy cellular communication. Research from institutions including Harvard and MIT has shown that NAD+ levels decline significantly with age — and this decline correlates with metabolic dysfunction, cognitive decline, and accelerated aging. IV NAD+ therapy replenishes cellular levels directly. Because NAD+ is a large molecule poorly absorbed orally, IV delivery is the most effective route. Sessions run 2-4 hours (NAD+ requires slow infusion for tolerability) and many clients report improved mental clarity, energy, and sense of wellbeing during the session itself.

Slow Infusion
Is Not Optional

NAD+ must be infused slowly — 2 to 4 hours depending on dose. Faster infusion causes chest tightness, nausea, and flushing. Our RN team monitors your comfort throughout and adjusts rate as needed. The experience is calm — bring a book, laptop, or simply rest.

What to Bring
Headphones or a book — you will be here 2–4 hours
Light snack — NAD+ works best with food in your system
Comfortable clothes — IV access in the arm or hand
Key Ingredients

Six Pathways. One Molecule.

NAD+ does not target one system — it restores the foundational currency that powers every major cellular process simultaneously.

Sirtuin Activation

Longevity Proteins
Anti-Aging Core

Sirtuins are often called "longevity proteins." They regulate gene expression, DNA repair, inflammation, and metabolic function — but they are entirely dependent on NAD+ to function. Restoring NAD+ activates sirtuins at levels associated with improved healthspan in research models.

PARP DNA Repair

Genomic Integrity

PARP enzymes are the primary responders to DNA strand breaks — the type of cellular damage that accumulates with age, UV exposure, and oxidative stress. PARP enzymes consume NAD+ to power the repair process. Low NAD+ means slower, less complete DNA repair.

Mitochondrial Biogenesis

New Mitochondria Formation

NAD+ activates PGC-1alpha, the master regulator of mitochondrial biogenesis — the process by which your cells create new, healthy mitochondria. More mitochondria means more cellular energy capacity and better metabolic efficiency across every tissue.

Neurological Support

Brain & Cognitive Function
Cognitive Restoration

The brain is one of the most metabolically active organs and has the highest density of NAD+-dependent processes. Clients frequently report significant improvements in mental clarity, focus, and mood following NAD+ infusions — effects attributed to restored neuronal energy metabolism and neurotransmitter regulation.

CD38 & Inflammation

Immune Regulation

CD38 is an enzyme that consumes NAD+ and is upregulated by chronic inflammation. The inflammatory cascade of modern life — poor sleep, processed food, chronic stress — accelerates NAD+ depletion through CD38 activation. IV NAD+ counteracts this drain directly.

Metabolic Optimization

Insulin Sensitivity & Energy

NAD+ is a critical cofactor in the citric acid cycle and beta-oxidation — the metabolic pathways that convert nutrients into cellular energy. Restoring NAD+ improves insulin sensitivity, supports healthy body composition, and increases the efficiency of fat and carbohydrate metabolism.

NAD+ Dosing Tiers

Choose Your Dose

Starting at $350 (250mg). All sessions use pharmaceutical-grade NAD+, physician-supervised protocols, and RN administration. Session length: 2-4 hours (NAD+ requires slow infusion).

Important: NAD+ must be infused slowly to prevent side effects (chest tightness, nausea, flushing). Session durations listed are approximate — your RN will adjust rate to your comfort. Sessions of 2 to 4 hours are normal and expected.

Why does NAD+ have to be infused so slowly?

NAD+ infused too quickly causes a predictable set of side effects: chest tightness, nausea, flushing, and a sensation sometimes described as a mild internal pressure. These effects are not dangerous, but they are uncomfortable. Slow infusion — typically 2 to 4 hours depending on dose — allows your body to equilibrate and avoids these reactions entirely. Our RN team monitors your comfort throughout and adjusts the rate as needed.

What is the difference between IV NAD+ and oral NMN or NR supplements?

NMN (nicotinamide mononucleotide) and NR (nicotinamide riboside) are NAD+ precursors — your body must convert them to NAD+ through enzymatic steps. This conversion is incomplete and varies by individual gut health, age, and genetics. IV NAD+ delivers the molecule directly to the bloodstream at concentrations that precursor supplements cannot replicate. Think of the difference between eating a precursor to vitamin C versus receiving ascorbic acid directly — the end result is not the same.

When will I feel the effects of NAD+ therapy?

Some clients notice improved mental clarity and energy during or immediately after the infusion. For others, the benefit builds over 24 to 72 hours as NAD+ distributes into tissues. Cognitive improvements, better sleep quality, and sustained energy are the most commonly reported initial effects. Anti-aging and longevity benefits are cumulative — most protocols recommend a series of 4 to 6 sessions over 2 to 3 months, then monthly maintenance.

Is NAD+ therapy safe? Are there any risks?

NAD+ has a strong safety profile and is well-tolerated when administered correctly. The primary risks are the discomfort from rapid infusion (managed by our slow-infusion protocol) and rare hypersensitivity reactions. At M Health, all IV therapies are physician-supervised and RN-administered. Your intake includes a health history review to identify any contraindications before your session begins.

Who is a good candidate for NAD+ therapy?

NAD+ therapy is appropriate for healthy adults focused on longevity, cognitive performance, recovery from chronic fatigue, and age-related decline in energy. It is particularly popular with clients in their 40s and beyond who are proactively managing the aging process, as well as high performers and athletes looking for a cellular edge. A brief health intake with our RN team confirms candidacy before your first session.

How often should I get NAD+ infusions?

For initial restoration, most clients complete a loading protocol of 4 sessions over 2 to 4 weeks, then transition to monthly or quarterly maintenance. The 500mg tier is the most common choice for ongoing protocols. Your RN will recommend a personalized schedule based on your health history and goals during your intake consultation.
